Photos from the crazy parade the first weekend of the festival - August 8, 2009.
This was the parade through Holyrood Park (we think normally held down Princes Street). It was great because people were able sit all along up the hillsides that begin the hikes up to Arthur’s Seat. Very very weird parade with general milling about, performances, and hamburger and haggis stands around for food beforehand. It began with one long motorcycle ride (I think if you live here and have a motorcycle then you are welcome?), followed by a number of the performers from the Tattoo, and then…whoever the heck wanted to walk.
I'm going to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and will be there for its entirety (August 7-31, 2009) - not performing, but experiencing. My friend Carrie (pictured) will be joining for the first 2 weeks and then I'm on my own. I will also be staying in the UK til September 9 doing...something.
I'll be posting here to help everyone back home follow the journey! And to try to keep track of what's going on.
